Chong Kim has been appointed as the part time local pastor at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Kearny.

Chong Kim was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. He received his Master in Ministry degree in 2014 from Drew Theological School. He graduated from Seoul National University in 1974 and earned Ph.D. in chemistry in 1982 at the University of Idaho. He worked for chemical companies for many years and made a career transition to become an educator. He was a vice principal at a private high school before he retired in 2013. He is married to Rev. Gina Kim who serves Wesley UMC in South Plainfield. They have a grownup son who lives in Atlanta, Georgia.
